How many times have you made a New Year’s resolution, only to forget about it within a few months or even weeks? Here are 5 healthy New Year’s resolutions that you will actually be able to keep and will also lead you to a healthier lifestyle:

1. Control your portions –

Use smaller plates when eating. If you have a smaller plate, you will eat smaller portions of food.

2. Drink more water –

Replace a soft drink with a glass of water. Add a few slices of lime or lemon to add variety.

3. East less salt –

You should only consume about 2,400 mg (or less) of sodium a day. Read and compare food labels when shopping and choose the product with the least amount of sodium.

4. Eat more fruits and veggies –

Keep a bowl of fresh fruit on your kitchen counter and your pantry and freezer stocked with canned and frozen fruits and veggies so you always have them on hand.

5. Watch less TV –

Instead of sitting on the couch to watch a rerun of a TV show you’ve seen a thousand times, go out for a walk, even if it’s only for 10 or 15 minutes.
